Tune: Deus Tuorum Militum
('Awake, awake, fling off the night')
Psalm 121
*********
I will lift up my eyes unto
The hills, and look, Lord, unto you
From whence comes my help, from on high
And sensing too your presence night
My help comes from the Lord who made
Heaven and earth, they firm and staid
He will not let your footsteps slip
You shall not stumble, fall, or trip
He that keeps you will not slumber
The Lord your keeper, protector
The Lord you shade, your defence strong
Shall come to your aid all life long
Things of the sun's day times they shall
Not harm you, nor moon's night times veil
The Lord shall preserve, keep from all
Evil, He shall preserve your soul
The Lord shall preserve your going
Out, and your coming in, so sing
We of this, shall be now and e'en
For evermore His keeping seen

Well done. Your poem serves to encourage readers to place their trust in God, reassuring them of His constant presence and protection in their lives. It is likely intended to instill hope and faith in those facing challenges.
Thank you F.
Another great hymn that I can imagine being sung in any church, except for those raucous ones. Orchi you sly dog you it just occurred to me all this time you say you are not into metaphors and the Bible is full of them.
Thank you SB. Oops. Maybe I mean I'm not much use at interpreting some metaphors or cryptic poems.
You are always welcome my friend I guess I will have to start writing more parables
And how am I - and you - on parables? And metaphors too?! Ooohh!
Hey, my friend, this carries a steady, grounding power—like faith in ink and bone.
I love the way your words rise and hold, firm against the quiet pull of doubt.
Thank you T. I suppose one, and even I myself, can read the Bible verses on which my poems are based. But do I always share the Psalmists faith, or at least aspire to it? Also, they were not ALL written by King David of old.
The keeper kindles…ah…but the glugger…the glugger…
don’t finish that! LOL!
Great job on this, my friend, daftness aside. A great hymn-poem on trust. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you T. Yes, alas, a glug - or 500 - kindle into being! lol.
Totally! Like an immovable force...but totally keeps moving! LOL!
