as you lie there
you’ll realize your last days have come
your children,
your family,
visit you
they ask, “How are you feeling?”
your eyes swell up
and a random nurse
gives you a glance of pity.
you nod your head
saying you are good enough
when in reality
you know
you are not even promised tomorrow.
and for the last time
you are feeling scared
more afraid than you were when your mom asked
about the cake in the fridge
then you remember
your marriage
a union of two souls
you remember things that you forgot so long back
and that’s when you realize
those were the
last seven minutes
of your life.
and out of nowhere your hand feels cold
even though the summer sun shone bright

A passing of thoughts and a passing of a life. It is said that one's whole life passes before them at the time of death and so it seems here. Nicely written
