SLEEP, SLEEP

Carlos Alberto BUSTILLOS

SLEEP, SLEEP

Night is coming,
even though it’s day.
I carry the night,
I come into your dreams.

Close your eyes,
you are tired,
so very tired.

Do not be afraid,
I will take you with me.
Do not wake again,
you will feel no cold.

Come, my children,
come, little ones,
just for a moment.

My cold hands,
my cold breath,
everything is cold.

I will carry you away,
sleep,
sleep,

for the morning
is cold, so cold.

If you hear a sound,
close your eyes
and sleep,
for the night is coming.

V2

SLEEP, SLEEP (Improved Version)
Night is bleeding in,
though the sun still shines.
I am the shadow you carry,
the ghost in your dreams.

Close your eyes now;
you are weary,
so heavy with sleep.

Do not tremble,
for I am your escape.
Forget the waking world;
you’ll feel no winter here.

Gather round, my children,
hush, little ones,
it only takes a moment.

My hands are ice,
my breath is mist,
everything is bone and glass.

I will carry you deep,
sleep,
sleep,

for the morning
is a pale, frozen lie.

If you hear a whisper,
do not look,
just sink,
for the dark is already here.
