Divide and rule

NafisaSB

The conquerors long ago started the trend

Of poisoning minds to divide and rule

Our leaders are now doing the same

So that gullible public they may fool…

To garner votes they play this deadly game

It fills our minds and hearts with shame

When they point at others to name and blame

And themselves offer some excuses lame.

Critics are silenced or put behind bars

While leaders flaunt themselves as stars

This trend is now spreading fast

God forbid if it does last -

For they are blind to the fact the country will lose

If they, this ugly pathway, choose.

Violence and injustice bring their own retribution. No injustice lasts for ever. Thus, even those who enjoy power at its highest are bound to face the backlash at some point.

    • NafisaSB

that is so true - they will have to answer for their actions sooner or later - especially once out of power - but greed blinds them to the ground reality..
thanks for stopping by and your valuable feedback

Nicely written in good rhyme a message that the public needs to wake up. Yet I am not so sure that they are asleep I believe they are blind. A sad state of affairs. Nicely written

      • NafisaSB

yes they are turning a blind eye to the reality - and will definitely have to pay for their sins of omission and commission.
glad to know the message resonated with you

Now that's a good write, NafisaSB/Safina. I get irritated that I cannot address you correctly, but since your heart appears to be in the right place, am prepared to forgive you...☺️

        • NafisaSB

wow- am so relieved to know i have been forgiven - saved me some sleepless nights - lol
          - i think a clarification is needed here.my given name is Nafisa and i chose Safina as my pesudonym when i started publishing my poems/articles
[safina means boat - so it marked the advent of my journey into the sea of journalism]
you have the liberty to address me as you please - your comments are always welcome, and invariably bring a smile to my face
wishing you and yours a beautiful weekend

          • Doggerel Dave

Alright - got it. I'm going select Safina as it seems to suit my arthritic fingers better and anyway is a pseudonym as is Doggerel Dave (though Dave is my real name).
Your searing critique of your own country’s politics is replicated in many other countries (including my own) with slightly different flavours, but very much the same result.

            • NafisaSB

I respect your wishes and hope that your arthritis becomes more manageable ie lesser although i realize the weather plays a major part in its presence in our lives - take care of yourself always
It is very depressing to see stable relationships between different castes and creeds of people rocked/destroyed by politicians for garnering votes here - but it is the easiest way to do so here...don't see chances of major changes soon - so at a personal level doing my small bit to have friends from all walks of life...

              • Doggerel Dave

                All you can do.

                Take care.

                • NafisaSB

                  thanks - you too !

Safina, this is a pointed critique framed in steady rhyme. You balance political frustration with a broader warning about national consequence. It’s straightforward, impassioned, and designed to provoke reflection. Strong, assertive work. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

                  • NafisaSB

the political climate in our country is so divisive that though we are supposed to be a secular country, the current trend is to divide racially and by religion to garner more votes - which is really sad as people who were close to each other - now eye their own friends with a prejudiced eye
so this was a cry from the heart for restoration of good relations...
thanks for reading and commenting - am glad you liked it...

Same old same old. When are we going to quit falling for this nonsense?

                      It's Nebuchadnezzar's dream..

                      • NafisaSB

defies logic why people cant think of what the future would be if this continues...

                        • Mutley Ravishes

I guess as long as identification with limitation (separation) continues, then the same old same old will continue. I guess most are not ready. Not that it`s easy for me either!

Bitter truths carved in rhyme, like knives in velvet—your anger is righteous and unflinching.
The world’s folly wears a familiar mask, and you name it without mercy.

                            • NafisaSB

thank you - it pains me how we can be blind to the consequences of such actions...
