The day the sun didn’t rise

Allie561

Around the world people said good night

They crawled into bed and turned off the light

When they woke up they couldn’t see

They found their clock and it read 9:03

The sun should’ve risen by now

Confusion was enough to raise a brow

Stumbling towards the TV and turning it on

The news was saying there wouldn’t be a dawn

Fear spread quickly throughout homes

As the world slowly went monochrome

No one knew why the sun went away

Though most assumed it was the beginning of Doomsday

In truth the sun was crestfallen

The world was attacking itself, caving all in

People hated one another

Hurting their sister and brother

The sun was sad people turned this way

It couldn’t bear to watch and had to stay away

It vowed to only return when the violence would end

When people wouldn’t fight or destroy the earth, and promise to make amends

Clever and cute it's personification of the sun gives it a storybook feel. Should the sun go away we wouldn't know for eight minutes, the time it takes light and gravity from it to reach us. At which point we would fly out of orbit and freeze. A fun read

Thank you for the comment and support Soren. Yes that is the scary thing that most things in space don’t reveal themselves until a while after it’s already happened
