When we don’t try

Allie561

Scrub your face so hard you almost take it off

Smoke even though it makes you cough

Eat the shriveled hot dogs from the gas station though you want to lose weight

Never smile because you wish your teeth were straight

Work an office job from 8 to 6

Know he lies but still fall for his tricks

Drive your old broken car

You need a new one but that dream is too far

Forget to take the trash out and walk the dog

Keep getting sick to where you sound like a frog

Never clean your kitchen or room

Take showers every three days and douse yourself with perfume

Slap on messy make up

Drink days old coffee from a chipped cup

Trying your best isn’t enough

Putting in effort is getting really really tough

This paints a clear picture of that malaise that we fall into letting ourselves go and eventually sinking into depression. Where is the meaning in life? Nicely written with great rhyme and flow it takes me with it down the drain of motivation. Nicely inked

21st century life sure is brutal, everyday changes for the worse.
Will it get any better. Doubt it.

As much as I’d like to disagree, I fear you’re right. Sooner or later we will all be at war I think more than we are right now at least. Thanks for the comment.

Allie, this feels raw and unfiltered…like a list of small defeats that stack into something heavy. There’s no glamorizing it. And “Putting in effort is getting really really tough” lands with honest exhaustion. Well done, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
