A Mind Remiss
I lose things
Scattered
Flighty
A mind remiss
In flight
I found the keys in a cup
Phone on a mantle
But my slippery mind
I missed the most
Found in a puddle
I keep track of character, integrity
And Water Ford Cystal
A heart for humanity underneath
This frothy chest

There is a feeling of deterioration in this poem but despite the exterior rot inside there remains a human heart. This is sad and yet hopeful
Powerful.
It is amazing where you find things, and even more amazing is how they got there in the first place.
I myself blame the little people, but they say its got nothing to do with them.
Katie, there’s a gentle ache in this that lingers. The scattered rhythm mirrors the mind you describe…then that puddle image pulls everything inward. By the time we reach “This frothy chest,” it feels like you’ve exposed something tender but resilient. Strong, honest piece, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you for your kind words Tristan!!
I couldn't have put my thoughts into words better! I concur!
You are most welcome. And, rock on Rachel...it really was how the poem left me feeling. Excellent job, Katie.
