I wasn't really sure if I'd get to this higher stage,
Previously been backtracking to a read page.
Guess you could call this my sober confession,
Now the way is forward, no more possession.
Those demons are gone, no longer live here,
6 months removed from taking pints of beer.
Tried and tried to get my drinking under control,
Always knew to fully stop would be the final goal.

Shaun, this carries real strength. There’s no drama in it…just honesty and forward motion. “6 months removed” feels grounded and earned. That closing line reads like clarity after a long internal fight. Respect, my friend. And yes, I can absolutely and 💯 relate with this. Thanks for writing it, my friend.2 years sober for me. Glad we're both on this side of that struggle, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Cheers pal and well done on that, feels like alcohol is used as a weapon against us at this point.
Shaun, it does feel that way, doesn’t it? Funny how so many other things get demonized for being “marketed” to kids, yet alcohol gets a strange free pass. Not that I am big on banning things either. History hasn’t exactly shown that to work. But you’re not wrong about alcohol. Thanks again for the support… and cheers right back to you, man. Together’s better than alone
Exactly! There are agendas behind everything. I get possessed when I drink which is why I've had to stop.
Hear you, bro! They don’t call booze a demon for nothing! Here’s to both of our healths!
Exactly! Cheers!
A good write on the aspect of abstaining from alcohol. Nicely written in rhyme it flows well like the drink.
Thanks very much.
Most welcome
Good write SM.
We maybe need not give it up altogether, though I'm about 98% teetotal anyway. I even dilute some fizzy drinks as they give me terrible 'bends'. lol.
Haha sounds interesting.
One day at a time brother. I'll be six years sober on the 28th of this month and it definitely gets better each day
That's amazing, I commend you (:
