There is poison in the air we breathe
There is poison in the food we eat
There is poison now in the mind of men
There is poison in the writer’s pen
Poison may spew from the way you talk
Poison is shown when you strut and walk
Poison is there when you gossip about others
Poison is visible when you stab your own brothers
Poison in your heart when avarice is there
And you covet, but do not want to share
Poison in minds of leaders of our world
Poison in the hearts when missiles are hurled
Wherever you turn, poison is there
World is bereft of Sympathy and care
Let’s realize that we are sealing our doom
Unless we find a cure very soon

A poem that sees the bitter taste of poison in society and voices it poetically. The antidote is in relinquishing all desire and giving up all possessions, avarice and lust. Up until now not an attainable goal for many and the overthrow of capitalism. A difficult battle at best but well written
it is a very challenging battle indeed with no victory in sight, unfortunately.
thanks for stopping by - appreciate it
You are very welcome
Safina, what stayed with me most is how the poem keeps returning to that word “poison.” Each time it widens the circle…air, food, speech, leadership, even the heart itself. The repetition gives the message real weight. Strong writing, my friend. On another note, I am with you. Very, very distressed with the state of the world. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
thank you so much for the empathy and sympathy. glad it resonated with you...
Most welcome, Safina!
