The Making of An Appetite

Neville

Watching us both in the tall mirror
making out like that
made me feel I was taking you twice ..
And I swear if you
had been a lychee or fig I would have
eaten you whole
right there and then with the sunrays
brazenly bouncing
off the sweat on your glistening back
and blinding anyone
who might just happen to be passing ..
Dear lord, how you
just gave this old man back his appetite ..

Jolly old mirror mirror on the ceiling,
You be reflective of the way I'm feeling... Sorry Neville - there are times when an old rhymer just can't help himself...

Well written. Your poem uses the metaphor of appetite, both literal and figurative, to express the speaker's feelings towards another person. It juxtaposes sensuality with the imagery of food, emphasizing the intensity of attraction and the transformative effect that love can have on a person's outlook.

Neville, thereโ€™s a playful sensuality running through thisโ€ฆmirror reflections, sunlight on skin, and that sudden burst of appetite for life again. The imagery feels warm and vivid, but itโ€™s the closing line that ties it together so well. Desire and vitality wrapped in a smile. Well done, my friend.๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ›

Raw sunlight, sweat, and hungerโ€”this oneโ€™s got the pulse of a man remembering heโ€™s still alive.
Thereโ€™s grit and gratitude in that last line; desire here isnโ€™t pretty, itโ€™s honest, and thatโ€™s why it works.

                          • Neville

Cheers, Thomas .. Much appreciated .. Neville ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘
