Shamed for Caring?

GenXer Sharon πŸ™πŸ€

I never considered myself an expert as mistakes I’ve made plenty. When it concerns matters of the heart? Yes I care deeply. My country holds a special place in my heart. America is far from perfect; maybe it’s been that way from the start. I hold onto His promise and His word that He will rise again; on that glorious day I’m sure we will all sing Hallelujah and Amen. I hold onto the hope that my country can be whole once more. By remembering all that’s good; and what we’re all fighting for. As a child and maybe into my early teens. I remember a time when we truly loved each other; cared for our flag; and sang My Country ‘Tis of Thee. Maybe those days are long gone? Yet He reminds these things must come to be; nation rising against nation; conflicts in our very family. I am not blind to what’s evil all around; with God we dig deeper in His word; walk in our Faith; and allow Him to hold us down. It doesn’t mean we don’t hurt, nor get upset as these things come to light; It simply means God’s starting to move mountains; we will be alright. Draw nearer to Him as these days get out of control; Trust wholeheartedly that He will Rise again; try to leave things in His hands and let it go.

There is patriotism and faith in this poem that feels so old school and I love it. It has good internal rhyme that is an art in paragraph form. Well done

Sharon, β€œAmerica is far from perfect…yet I hold onto hope” is the thread that really holds this together. That tension between reality and hope gives the piece its strength. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›
