The shattered globe

HerTime

The shattered globe

Staring at the drywall's blank stare, Numbness is the only thing I wear.

A snow globe that once lay still,

Now shaken by a jagged will.

A sickening, quiet kind of dread

I wonder why I never fled.

I traded my voice to keep the peace,

But the bitterness would not cease.

Now I am forced to finally see,

The things they whispered, except to me.

How did I miss the warning signs?

The truth is etched in brutal lines.

I move like a ghost in my own home,

A foreign land beneath this dome.

Shackled by a fear I didn't choose,

With nothing left of me to lose.

My heart is strong, my spirit more

Yet you’ve left me hollowed on the floor.

I always fall for this manipulation.

But really, I’ve seen your fixation.

I’ve seen it from the start,

From you I need to be apart.

You were supposed to be my teacher,

Instead you are a predatory creature.

Two years of hammers, strike by strike,

The nail is buried, an iron spike.

With this target pinned upon my back,

I’m leaving the ruins of this shack.

The shattered globe jagged and broken,

From here I rebuild, leave nothing unspoken.
