The Goodbye I Never Said

Cindy

The goodbye I never said

to the girl that longed to hear those words

from the girl she dreamed to be,

the perfect teen life she saw in movies

definitely wasn’t me.

And sometimes I feel guilty

for what I haven’t become,

for a girl that waited patiently

just for these years to come.

Her arms widely spread,

yearning for a warm embrace,

yet all she was given was a cage

filled with millions of wild emotions

left for her to tame.

I haven’t said goodbye,

the words my tongue crave,

though I haven’t said thank you,

always know that you are a piece of my heart.

You’re the blood that flows in my veins,

the voice that shaped my name,

and even when words fail me,

your love remains the same.
