There was a time
you were my everything,
not just a person,
but the air between my ribs,
the quiet reason I kept breathing forward.
There was a time
we spoke in futures like they were certain,
tracing forever with careless hands,
believing love alone
could make a promise permanent.
We saw us everywhere,
in empty rooms, in passing years,
in names we never said out loud
but held like secrets
only time was meant to hear.
Now your voice carries a different tomorrow,
one where my name doesn’t belong,
where the life we built in fragile hope
has been handed gently
to someone else.
And still,
I would do anything for you.
That hasn’t changed.
Not the love, not the ache,
not the quiet way I still choose you
even as you choose a world without me.
So I stand here
holding the ghost of what we were,
watching the future we once shared
slip into hands that aren’t mine,
loving you
in a place
I’m no longer allowed to exist.
