I'm your Shadow

Cindy

I’m your shadow,

Yes, your shadow,

Welcome home.

We could dance beneath the moon,

And chase the shimmering stars.

We could hide,

And escape the day,

Fear the sun,

As we run away.

But beware,

I’ll drain all your joy

Down the unseen void,

And pour darkness in its place.

As I leave without a trace,

I’ll make you believe

That you never existed.

I’ll tangle you in thoughts,

And wrap you in whispers.

I'll shine a scorching beam

Into your eyes,

Blinding you,

Revealing the dangers of light.

I’m your beloved friend,

Take my hand,

Sparse yet dense,

Melting into your palms,

Leaving feelings immense.

Darkness is the one

That fed you daily,

So eat from its spoon,

Holding the coldest secrets,

And the blazing truth.

It burns you as you drown,

In glaciers that freeze a heart,

And flames that swallow a soul.
