La Cucaracha  Mexican Folk

Ksey_Gan

I burn with such fury, could weep;

A volkano rages in my white  chest.

You told me:  You're*cucaracha*—

That simply means "cockroach -beetle”.

Chorus

For  *cucaracha*, that *cucaracha*,

I will have my revenge.

I won't shed a tear—no, I won't cry—

But I will not forgive the slight.

It ill becomes me to be a chatterbox,

Or to be as combative as a goat.

I’ll simply find that pretty girl of yours

And scratch her eyes right out.

Chorus

Let the gypsy girl be dark and swarthy—

Such, after all, is the law of fate.

But then why, oh why, guaranteed

You're in love with a cockroach  so long?

Chorus

For that *cucaracha*, for that *cucaracha*,

I will have my revenge.

I’ll outwit you, I’ll make a fool of you,

If only I so choose.

I know: sooner or may be later,

You'll return to my humble shack.

And once again, into the little paws

You’ll surrender your big heart.

Chorus

I’m a *cucaracha*, I am a *cucaracha*—

How could I be anything else?

But I’m not crying—no, I’m not crying—

For you will be mine, come what may!

A harsh and yet reminiscent song of the original La Cucaracha that is more light hearted. This poem speaks of revenge and hurt leaving it dark. Well done
