Alan R

I was listening to

The flickers of numbness

Calling me in

I was following through

On a strange, forgiving night

You stopped me there

You didn’t say much

Just held me right

And I never thought you could

Perhaps, when you leave

I will let it finally take me in

For peace, for good.

The intent of this poem remains cryptic to the end. The numbness yes the being held despite the being held. Then comes the end of letting it take you for peace and good. Is it the forgiveness that will take over or is it something darker. Being left in doubt gives this poem power. Nicely done
