Melancholia

Siah Bjerke

No light to pierce the endless grey.

No solace found in yesterday.
No Future calls, no present stays.

No comfort in the empty days.

No heartbeat echoes in this void.
No trace of what was once enjoyed.

No memory stirs a gentle tear.

No reason left for being here.

I take this seriously as a dark poem but it could be read more lightly as one that longs for yesterday. It is well written and makes its point well despite how dreary it is.
