A New Show

JPW

A new show is here:
Its tents are brilliant gold
And awes the wise too!

The sages arrive.
They are respectable men
In jester's attire:

Make-up of masked blemishes.
Clothes of charaded givings.
Gloves of guised theologies.
 Shoes of swift buffoonery.

The new show is old:
Its tents are now washed-out gold
And awed those fools then!

The foolish have left.
They were respectable men
In jester's attire.

Then as it is now,
The wise proclaim their knowledge
Greater than its Source.

Then as it is now,
The wise have become foolish
To wisdom of men.

Then as it is now,
The wise have left the facade
Of Satan's circus.

To be a fool for Christ is greater than a sage for Satan.
