One book
Spine softened by the weight
Of everything I’ve carried
Same page
The one I keep returning to
Even when I swear I’m ready
For the next chapter
Different day
And the light hits the words
In a way I’ve never seen before
A margin I didn’t notice
A sentence that suddenly feels
Like it was waiting for me
To grow into it
I trace the lines again
Not out of habit
But recognition
Some stories don’t move forward
So much as deepen
Some truths don’t change
I do
One book
Still open
Same page
Still breathing
Different day
And somehow
The meaning shifts
Just enough
To let me shift with it

The metaphor of a book as that of life with each day a page works well in this poem where life is written one page at a time. Meanings change as new is added but just enough to shift with it as well
