Tune: Rockingham
('When I survey the wondrous cross')
John 19 v.26-30
*********
By Jesus' cross stood three Marys
His mother and sister, so be
And Mary Magdalene, and when
Jesus did see His mother then
And also John His disciple
Standing there, He did love them all
Said to His mother, Woman, see
John now your tending son shall be!
And to John He did say, Behold
You mother now, let it be told!
From then John took her to His care
The moment Jesus gave charge there
Jesus knowing that all things were
Accomplished, took final breaths, did stir
Said, I thirst, so scriptures fulfilled
He fully did as Father willed
They gave Him vinegar, as wine
Sour, to Him human, divine
Then He said, It is now finished
He bowed head, died, it was witnessed

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. There is Jesus' committal of His mother Mary and His disciple John to each other; and Jesus' committal of Himself to His Father.

Good write, O🙏🏻🕊️
Thank you A.
Welcome O
Orchi, there’s a steady reverence here that really holds…nothing forced, just the moment as it is. That care for his mother, even in the midst of everything, anchors it…and the close carries the weight cleanly. And somewhere in the silence…one faint glug still echoes. Even on a reverent day like today, it doesn't end. Well done, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thank you T.
Yes, unfortunately, all is reverent, serene, steady, etc - except for a faint glug we hear. Must he ruin everything?! lol.
