Do we ever really heal then?
Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Some scars fade away with passage of time but the permanent ones don't. The best we can do is to learn the lesson and move on.

Scars are just tattoos that actually mean something. They may never go away, but they become part of who you are. The trick is not to let the injury that caused them to define you, especially the mental and emotional ones.
