Cracks Below

tayne

It endures

The slightest touch, tears the bond

Layered with loose thread

Apart it falls, only pieces remain

Of those it anchored on

Slimy, they become

Grip loosen, altered fate it holds

Still on, hope lost

It carries the voice

Within lies a cruel tone

Breaks that which it builds,

At last a footing, but cracks below

Remains at a spot

Not a step, not a progress

Balancing its weight

To mend that which it crashed

To cut that which strapped it down

Blunt as it seemed, it endures

Blunt yet it endures.
It will sharpen,
edge by edge,
and carve its way up.
