it’s unfortunate

we have more than enough homes

but not enough care

There is yet another subdivision being built by my house. It used to be this beautiful orchard and they tore it up to put houses in, I’m really disappointed about it. We keep adding more and more homes and ruining the land. We’re not going to have much of it soon.

Your concern is understandable… I wonder if they plan to put in some sort of replacement for the orchard. These days (at least in America) it feels like housing is being built for the sake of paying rent. There’s no effort of trying to sustain and build a community. They raise rent every year until people cannot afford and then they’re evicted, people cry about homelessness affecting cities but don’t realize that the system is perpetuating this cycle of poverty.

We lose an orchard this year, and in the next 5-10 years we eventually lose the heart of homes. I’m not against building houses but I am more for building communities that more entwined with nature. I don’t see why they couldn’t just make mini orchards and make housing as well. Why does it have to be all or nothing?

There’s all a reason for the cycle that some people are only blinded to see their own problems. I wish we could have a place where each person takes care of a garden or park. It definitely would improve life.
