As I cleared out an old cupboard today
Memories appeared from every nook and cranny
My old Red Peddle Car I had when I was six
Which was given to me by my old Nannie
Was still in working order with all its parts
Memories came flooding back
Many an hour was spent playing and riding about
Together with my best young friend Jack
My old Teddy Bear Wilfred was still in good condition
Together we had spent many a happy hours of wear and tear
And my old football boots were still there as well
Along with the Shirt and Shorts I used to wear
Childhood Memories came flooding back
Which brought a tear to my eye
Of wondrous days spent playing with my old friends
On days long since having passed me by
An old school Satchel was still intact
Though now empty and a bit worse for wear
Which brought memories flooding back
Of my schooldays and my best mates there
Now it looked like me all battered and worn
I remember I was five years or six old
And my clothes were tattered and torn
Life was harder then, than it is now
You made do with what you had
It was stitch and mend when it was needed
Always repaired by Mum or Dad
My cupboard hand many more secrets to reveal
I spent all day with my memories
My old collie dog Caliban’s collar was still there
Many a hour we spent together walking
Somehow we managed to communicate
He would bark with me just talking
Childhood memories last forever, never forget that fact
It’s what keeps us going throughout many a day
They supposedly say you should never look back
But who cares what other people say
