Eve’s perspective

marissa

He escaped to the grounds of blooming fruits.

Was bitten kindly, and tripped on grassroots.

What came to bite him was not a heinous fly.

But Instead of escapism-he was ready to die.

He dived his teeth

Into the apple of the wonder tree.

Questioned my vanity, as he looked at me.

Grasping the fruit and missing his balance.

As he fell to the ground,in utter silence.

An urging light had Incontinently passed.

My feet were naked, planted beneath the grass.

I felt the ground rumble with doubt and anger.

As the air felt heavy, and the light grew stronger.

Its shine coated my breasts to a radiant white.

An evocation of my thoughts, reminded my fright.

I muttered an explanation in a haste,it was sudden.

Waiting for condemnation from God, take my blood and-

He watched Adam fall to his surrender.

And Jesus blamed me, because of my gender.

I am the faulty force he is blaming.

A vomitorium holding enough for the shaming.

Centuries speaking of the woman with the apple.

And nobody prays for the woman in the chapel.

Adam is the only one that they see.

So forget about me,forget about Eve.

A poem that addresses the male dominance in the Christian church with God as male, most all the prophets, the priesthood only available to men, women blamed for the fall but what of the mother of God. History has not been kind to women but wise women have always known how to rule.

Absolutely right this is exactly what i wanted to evoke to a reader!

Marissa, this really lands…you’re not just retelling Eve, you’re challenging how she’s been remembered. Especially with that line about no one praying for her—it shifts everything. And honestly, I’ve wrestled with that too…Adam was the one directly told, and still chose. Yet, Eve carries the blame? I think not...not in my humble opinion, anyway. I’m glad you brought that tension into the light. This is a powerful write...let alone a much needed perspective...my friend. Very much a personal fave! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
