For a Child

Neville

For a Child

for you,

although there

may be

few tomorrows ..

I swear,

I shall try to live

every single

one of them on

your behalf ..

and tho’ I refuse

to mention

you here in name,

today I do

solemnly swear

it shall be

remembered

and recited in my

head and our

hearts, in songs

and in poetry

for ever and always ..

Wow! This is heavy and heart-felt. It is a testimony to the enduring power of love. May peace be with you.

Neville, this really lands…that quiet vow to carry forward, especially in that promise to live those tomorrows on their behalf. It feels intimate and enduring without needing to name more. There’s something deeply moving in that. Beautiful write, my friend. And oooh. A new anthology in the works. Yesss!!! πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›

A powerful poem. Your poem centers on the profound love and commitment a speaker feels for a child, likely a lost or unborn one. The poet expresses a deep sense of responsibility to live fully and meaningfully in honor of this child, acknowledging the fragility of life. Yet you encompass themes of love, memory, loss, and the desire for legacy, suggesting an emotional bond that transcends mortality.

A soft promise in a poem that seems a pledge as well. Nicely done my friend. Sorry for the delayed response I have been traveling for the past two days with no internet access
