Hold Fast, Time Ticks

Brian Otucho

Thunders pierce the eery dark of the night,

Loud they are not but,...deafening

I feel he moment but can only react in my sleep - like Nebuchadnezzar in his dream of the statue

'Forget me not, thy kingdom has come'

But -

What have I been doing that I can receive the reward?

It's the break of day, and the dream makes me rethink salvation.

Hold fast.

  • Comment from author about the poem: And this reminds me today at night, that is the night waking to 8th April, I dreamt of Jesus' second advent. I felt I was in the moment, and loud thunders sounded. They were not only loud, they were deafening. And I seemed to see the scene even in my sleep through the hostel room window that faces the nearby market. This must make me rethink my christianity for real. What if Jesus were to come today, would he find me ready? But I am very weak in faith, laziness kills me. I fail to go to church due to laziness, among. How I pray God to remove laziness within me, I don't want to miss out like people in the days of Noah or they in the days of Lot. And sometimes as I ponder here alone, I wonder, is this Iran-USA/Israel war or the Ukraine-Russia or Palestine-Israel wars culminate the end of age? If so or not so, how I wish I live purely before the ultimate decision is made; the door of mercy closed and said that whoever is holy remain so and whoever is evil remain so.
