Kaykay

5 years old I was

After I landed and felt my feet

Touch the floor of the airport

I didn’t want to be there

I wanted to go home and

Be with my mom and dad

We hopped into the taxi and drove away

I could see the billboards disappear and

Be covered with trees and signs

Small towns and small houses

Fill my vision as I see stands of

Stands of stands towering everywhere

My grandparents waiting for me at the door

In open arms I ran, the first days were a

Struggle but I grew to adapt.

I found peace and home in the one place

I didn’t want to be at, family and friends I

Made.

12 years old I was

After I landed and felt

My feet touch the floor

Of the airport.

I knew it would be

My forever Home.
