Addicted

Kaykay

7 years old, D.A.R.E a program we

We’re all introduced to as

Kids.

“I’ll never do drugs”

“I’ll never smoke”

“Never.”

13 years old, spotting detectors in

Every bathroom, two people in one stall

Another asking if they have anything

On them

Long sleeves pulled down as they join

Together and trade a single jewel

Eyes seeping lower then their feet

Eyes red as a blood moon

Laughs ands struggles seep through

Them, their only escape of the real word

26 years old, out on the streets laying on a piece of cardboard begging for anything that can get you a new high

Walking around with a cart filled to

The brim with random stuff to help

Get by.

Robbing other people for their own

Walking to the closest drug store you know.

Every day is a struggle for you

You don’t know if it’s your first

Or your last.

You said it was only on weekends

And party’.

Either way, you’ll be Addicted.
