CARAVAGGIO THE MARTYRDOM OF SAINT URSULA

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

The last time
Genius rose
The final indulgence
Mortality to close
The blood red hue
The arrows steel
Ashen faces
Horror feels.

Its way within
The canvas frame
The fugitive painter
Reflections fame
Was there regret
Or just a voice
Hidden in
The artists choice ?

Saint Ursula
Your breath suprised
Hands to chest
Bewildered eyes
While behind
The painter views
His final work
As if he knew.

A beautiful poetic tribute to a painting. Very nicely worded it speaks for itself
