This world

Cindy

Why has the world

become a place so hard

to live and strive,

to call this earth home?

Why has the world

become a place

where we are too afraid

to say the truth we all know?

To feel trapped in a loop,

where every step

is followed by two,

each one right behind,

in a timeline that grew.

And to feel the presence of color,

yet unable to see it,

to feel the presence of joy,

yet unable to experience it.

And though I feel alone,

I do know I have the world,

where more than half its population

is living in the same dimension,

just in another place.

To hear the words, you are not alone,

does not fix anything,

it only makes it worse,

to know that others also suffer this way.

To know that one in eight people

are trapped in their minds,

one with a banging head,

another with an accelerating pulse.

That more than fifty percent

of all the people I know

are drowning in their world,

where they call their shadows home.

And sometimes I wonder,

if the problem is humans,

or the creations of man

that swallow this earth.

So why has the world

become such a place

where we can no longer

call it ours?

A haunting question in a poem that asks us to look honestly at ourselves. Each may have their own answer for this problem but as for me it has to do with too many people and their expectations. Nicely done

Seems to be about suffering in this world. Nicely done.
