The most beautiful souls
are almost always damaged
they could live a normal life
but they spend every Friday
in the pub getting hammered
Proudly proclaiming
"The content could never be like us"
But silently thinking
I could be one too
If I didn't feel so much
I prescribe myself like a doctor
think i'm clever
i'll be taking powder n pills
whatever the weather
I can control my emotions forever
but when it runs out
I have no doubt
I'll feel worse than ever
I'm still a beautiful soul
no matter my state
i'm just having fun
or so she says
I'm still a beautiful soul
whether here or gone
I'll still be a beautiful soul
when I'm my next human
And when i have moved on
please take the curse of addiction
allow me to be a beautiful soul
without affliction.
Allow me to be a beautiful soul
without addiction.
Allow me to be a beautiful soul
without affliction.

- Comment from author about the poem: I haven't posted in a while, haven't been writing anything I'm truly proud of, but this came to me today and I'm super pleased with it. I think it could make a nice song.

A great poem of a view on addiction and how a person is a person aside from their addiction. Well said
