merely here

swedishme123

I looked away;

stupidity came way.

a birdseye view of my dismay

you may hear it ear to ear

people are not welcome here.

labeled a threat;

an eminent debt

friend or foe-I don't know

a full cup I do not crave;

and I won’t fill yours any day

social constructs pave the way

for something very not ok

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was talking to my sister and somehow we trailed off to a conversation about a girl in my class. I do not like her but from my pov I treat her normally the same way I treat everyone else, which is a good middle ground between acquaintance and friend. if anything I treat her better then that, even though I don't want to spend time around people like her. I was told to make her feel like she belonged. but I'm not an asset to be thrown around

    There is something very enticing with the rhyme and wording with this poem that draws the reader in. Nicely done and a fave

        Social constructs definitely do have quite the effect on how people are perceived and how we treat them.
