The Burden One Carries

kitty230

I carry the burden.

I want to speak,

but the words stay trapped.

Life hits from every side.

Nobody cares.

Nobody cares.

You sit and think

maybe it will be okay,

but the room is silent.

No hand reaches out.

No voice calls your name.

No one saves you

from the thing you fear most.

Life is unfair.

Who is there

to save you?

So, you pull yourself together,

stand up again,

alone.

Nobody cares.

Nobody cares.

People talk,

smile as they pass,

But they never notice

the crack in your smile.

The burden eats at you

quietly, slowly,

Yet you smile.

You smile so they won’t ask,

“Are you okay?”

“Is everything good?”

So, you say nothing.

You keep the smile

a plaster

pressed onto your face.

Is it real?

or just a way

to forget?

The burden stays.

The smile returns.

Happiness is independent of burdens or pain and few people know this

  • Katie B.

Many times people care but they don't show it or express it. They think about you but don't reach out. Good points made
