mellow

lunarchloedip

a soft song before bed
medicine for my tired head
i am going to be
mellow

hello, mellow
i don’t see you much
we should really keep in touch
i know, you do not always
want to stay
and I’m learning that’s okay
but when you are here, I must admit
i could get used to it

from a quiet child, reading
to a hyperactive teen
head-banging to bohemian rhapsody
now an easily irritated
slightly frustrated
adult
with a deafening desire for calm

i kiss my own palms

i am learning
how to be calm.
