My soul fractured,
not with a sound,
but with the quiet betrayal
of something once whole
forgetting how to stay.
My heart broken,
not clean, not kind,
but jagged and uneven,
like glass that refuses
to be held again.
My head spiraling,
thoughts chasing themselves
down corridors with no doors,
every answer dissolving
before I can reach it.
My world shattered,
not in fire or thunder,
but in a single, silent second
where everything I knew
unmade itself.
Everything I loved,
gone in an instant,
as if time blinked
and decided
I no longer belonged to it.
And now I stand
in the aftermath of nothing,
trying to remember
what it felt like
to exist before the fall.

This resonated so deeply with me.
The line 'as if time blinked and decided I no longer belonged to it'...
I think this might be my favourite out of all the poems I've read on this site.
No words, just wow ♥️
It is the last line that makes this a fave taking a well known religious image of the fall from Eden and incorporating it into everyday and personal happenings. It falls hard at the end of this poem. Nicely done
