a grooved disc, ready to spin
tucked in the warmth of a
sleeve, decorated
artwork, a photograph
a snapshot of someone else’s brain
when I am spinning, I long
for the warm embrace of
someone else’s brain
encased in plastic
with air bubbles
that i am almost sure
they add simply for my amusement
i lay the wrappings on the ground
position my feet, jump up and down
hold your hands
we jump together
i think I could do this forever
but the record is aching
to be played
i get it spinning
the crackle of the needle
the blur of the art
the calm of my heart
the magnetic pul
of your arms
as you place your palms
on my waist
we slow dance
on bubble wrap
no rom-com could hope
to one-up that
your head
tucked into my shoulder
there are no soft lights
it’s still bright outside
but I don’t really mind
because there is more light to see
your grin
owen
we are celebrating valentines
in mid april
because it took me two tries
to get you this vinyl|
the world did not want it
to be yours
but I wanted it
to be yours
so I tried twice
and here we are
on a Tuesday afternoon
while my room is still bright
dancing as though
it’s the edge of the night
my darling
i did not know
i needed to be kissed
while also popping bubble wrap
beneath my feet
but now I have tried it
i may need to invest
in more bubble wrap
for every future kiss
i hope
there will be many times
in the future
for us to kiss.
