Stepping back from the familiarity,
I want a change in scenery,
Doing something I haven't done in years.
Searching for a new canvas,
Wanting to find the perfect one.
Discovering you,
A needle in a haystack.
Treated you like a drug,
Time getting lost.
I didn't realize what I was craving,
Until I left you alone so I can rest.
Night terrors began,
Waking up with a start.
I came back to you,
Yearning for more.
You soothe me,
Giving me affection.
Time has gone,
So did my sleep.
Sleep isn't important,
Only you.

I like this comparison of attraction to another as a drug. That addiction in its good feelings becomes potentially detrimental overwhelming the care for oneself. Nicely written
