Lights

Alan R

Watching the city, take me in again

On a drizzling spring night

When the church bells go quiet

And the fresh greens bathe in yellow lights

Have you no recollection?

Of how love would feel like?

I hold your arms as you hold me

A little scared you won’t reach the height

And I don’t want this city to hurt

I have tried, I have tried to carefully fight

A fear that you too, might leave

And the lights won’t ever again, feel bright.
