My Quiet Truth

@merci

Woke up and decided again to let you know how much I love you,
how deeply you live in every heartbeat of mine.
Each beat carries a thought of you,
your smile, your sweet nothings whispered in my ears,
especially at night when the world is calm,
stars lighting up the sky.

You touch my soul with promises of a someday
when we will move from phone to in person.
As the moon lights up the night,
you light up my soul,
massaging my spirit and preparing me for the day ahead.

Thank you for being my refuge
when everything becomes loud,
for there, you calm my soul.

And no, this is not an April Fool’s declaration,
but my truest intention.

Ndagukunda.
