War

boot

In a dream of mine ..I saw
A thousand children die
One atop another ..strewn
Awkwardly...Unnaturally ..
Frozen..posed
In death they lie

Arms and legs..
Useless guns
Unspent blobs of lead
All about.. these few
These true
All about...are dead

Gray ..on smeary shades of dark
This sodden.. sobbing earth
Helpless.. to assuage these sons
Freezing fog..
Blasting guns
Muddy pits.. no shelter here

Naught remains

Not even fear

In death..

This is a stark and raw write of grit and war. Nicely written and a fave
