fish bowl

Tristan Robert Lange

Notice of absence from Tristan Robert Lange
I am lagging slightly in my responses to comments on my poems due to a crazy schedule. I will be catching up on them soon. I have read them all and will find the time to respond, but did not want you to think I was ghosting. In the meantime, and always:

Read, Write, Rise, Realize.

Tristan 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
the fish bowl has cracked and is leaking its seep out into the void, droplets floating off into the great beyond, like snot-spray in slow motion. it was a glorious fish bowl once. shiny. new. cared for. big enough for all the fish to inhabit. but the fish were fruitful and multiplied. they made many little guppies to swim and consume, consume, consume. cons they grew to be in sequence, and eventually the shiny was slimy, the new looked like spew, and the water was a greenish-brown like…well, you know. then, one day, the orange guppy decided it was time to venture beyond the great clear crystal wall that kept them safe and secure. why? because orange told them that they could only be safe if they had what was out there. hammerhead went to work immediately and, as it were, here we are. the fishbowl cracked, the seep making its slow-mo creep into the void that will now consume us all.

What a wonderful metaphor of humanity and the world my friend it leaks its message well.

    • Tristan Robert Lange

Soren, I appreciate that, my friend…this one definitely came from sitting with that bigger picture for a bit. I’m glad it came through for you. 🌊🐟🔁🙏

Always most welcome Tristan I don't always get the intended point but it makes sense in one way or another and this one did.

We actually had a fish tank (aquarium) that had its bottom plate cut the wrong size , too big so it had this lip almost 4” deep. Someone at home brought down a mug too heavily on it and a crack run though the length of it and tank water seeped out so gradually we didn’t notice for days! Oh memories 🐟 🐠 🕊️🙏🏻

        • Tristan Robert Lange

arqios, that’s wild…days of it slowly seeping out and no one noticing. 😅 The memories indeed! That kind of quiet leak hits a little too close to this one. 🌊🐟🔁🙏

          • arqios

I would imagine so! And the fright, quandary and concern as to why the aquarium is alarmingly 1/3 empty? Head scratch moment 🕊️🙏🏻

OMG i Love the fishbowl metaphor for the general idea of humanity, and how we have likely corrupted our own cicrumstance. A fave

            • Tristan Robert Lange

Abdullah, I appreciate that…yeah, that idea of us shaping and corrupting our own space was right at the core of it. I’m really glad it landed with you like that. And thank you for the fave too…means a lot. 🌊🐟🔁🙏

Well said. Your poem explores themes of overconsumption, the consequences of unchecked growth, and the desire for exploration and change despite potential dangers. It reflects on the fragility of environments—both physical and metaphorical—and suggests that the quest for something “better” can lead to self-destruction.

              • Tristan Robert Lange

Friendship, that sense of it breaking because of what’s inside it…yeah, that was right there for me while writing it. I appreciate your insights always, my friend. 🌊🐟🔁🙏

Fish bowl... sea...ocean. Oh no! Places we're likely to hear glugs from - we know who! lol.

                • Tristan Robert Lange

Orchi, oh no…not the glugs invading the fish bowl too…there’s no safe water left anywhere is there? Next thing you know Ol’ Tomás is setting up shop in the void itself. 🤣 🌍🖤🐟🙏

                • Priya Tomar

Priya, I really appreciate that…I’m glad it spoke to you in some way. Thank you for your time and thoughts, my friend. 🌍🖤🐟🙏

                    • Priya Tomar

You are most welcome , Robert .

                    • Waiting for Silence

                      Well written
We destroying nature that is keeping us safe with the hammer of concrete jungles advancement etc. Its leaking .. matter of time.. temp is reaching 50 degree Celsius..

                      • Tristan Robert Lange

Vimal, totally…that slow build, the strain, the sense that it’s only a matter of time before something breaks. You connected it straight to the real-world side of it, and that is exactly what I was hoping for. Appreciate you, my friend. 🌍🖤🐟🙏

                      • Doggerel Dave

It don't make no sense to me .... 😂🤣😟

                        • Tristan Robert Lange

Dave, I’m with you…there’s a kind of built-in contradiction to it all, and the more you look, the less sense it makes. And don't you know it's all a hoax. The fishbowl is fine...those aren't cracks. They're just weather's veins growing ominously like lightning strikes. It'll hold, we swear! 🤣 Appreciate you, my friend. 🌍🖤🐟🙏

                          • Doggerel Dave

Swear as long as you like, mate - you gotta find relief when and where you can... (hollow LOL)

                          • NinjaGirl

If the fish bowl is never cleaned, at some point it becomes too dirty and it's better just for it to be thrown away...else all the fish begin to die. But what if you only have one?
                            Very good reflection and metaphor.

🥷, yeah…that’s where it gets real. When it’s not about fixing or tossing it, but figuring out how to live with what’s left. I’m glad you took it there. Thank you, my friend. 🌍🖤🐟🙏

                            • Shaunmatthewcpoetry

                              Brilliant!

                              • Tristan Robert Lange

Shaun, thank you…really appreciate that. Glad it connected, my friend. ⚙️🧠🔥🙏
