without scraping it against your teeth

take a breath in-between

when you are sat next to me

sucking salad leaves like ice cream

swirling the stems around your mouth

the moment you opened the box

i could see things going south

i am trying, really trying

not to lose my composure

and counting the seconds

until it is over

writing a bitter poem

so you remain unknowing

of my barely contained misophonic rage

why is it wet??

why does it squelch??

can you not sense me

internally screaming for help??

did you forget to floss this morning

and now do so with the prongs??

are you determined

to ensure every part of my day was wrong??

close your mouth

when you eat

do not gnash your teeth

i promise, i am doing

all that i can

to not gnash mine

in your direction

and upon reflection

it is just sound

but it is so loud

eat

properly!!
