a dog it is for life not only for a day
something you abandon leave it there to stray
its needs lots of love just the same as you
not something that you keep for a day or two
it will need your trust and know that you care
it will grow to love you and know your always there
it will be your friend and its love will give
friendship for a lifetime as long as you may live
it will be so faithful never let you down
give your face a smile when you begin to frown
it will keep you safe and you it will protect
give it lots of love and treat it with respect
give it lots of care each and every day
a dog is your best friend and will stay that way.
