Light and dark entwined

Cindy

I am a bird with no wings,

The sky without the sun.

The moon without its stars,

And every victory I haven’t won.

I am the mirror in the dark,

The reflection of my shadows.

A candle dipped in water,

And storms beneath the shallows.

I am two held in one,

Light and dark entwined.

Every story I have begun,

Every mark I’ve left behind.

I am the dimly lit city lights

At the end of the desolate street.

The horrors of the night,

And the sun’s voice, soft and sweet.
