Many say take away the gun I say cut off all the fingers of who murders with one
Treatment for theft, slavery of the thief until no debt is left
As an adult for each lie scoop out the prevaricator's eye
If lies are more than two cut off the toes in their shoe
And as for prostitution castration of the users is the solution
Those that watch pornography force into viewing sex of the decrepit and ugly
For each unwelcome pass peel a layer of skin off the solicitor's ass
For each rude remark let them swim an hour with a shark
A politician, to the front line must carry the ammunition
For each complaint tie a knot in their tongue as a restraint
A lawyer and accused so as to not be abused, both serve the time for the crime

Wow this certainly is old testament. Some thought provoking statements here.I remember a young nurse was murdered and the murderers were put in jail and had colour tv three meals a day. They were better off in jail.I wanted the death penalty brought back. This certainly raises some important issues here .Excellent
Thanks David yes what was originally intended as a satire becomes taken literally due the Christian right preaching Jesus has never gotten beyond the old testament and its eye for an eye. I deeply appreciate your review and comment
Your poem presents a provocative critique of justice and punishment, suggesting extreme, physical retributions for various forms of wrongdoing, from murder to dishonesty. It calls into question the nature of justice and societal responses to crime, proposing that the punishment should match the crime in a literal and gruesome way. Nicely written
Thank you my friend for your read and interpretation which is the heart of this satire of the extremity that some that propose the turn the other cheek Christianity would like to go to reverting back to the eye for an eye. Your words are most appreciated
You're very welcome, my friend
You've just killed off the human race outright.
Some I would gladly shoot, others, yes they should suffer.
Repeat offenders, just make them politicians.
Thank you so much Paul for the read and comment yes I would have to agree but you are a little too late about the politicians they are already in office.
lol in a sick world this is hilarious inside my heart my dismay for our world it's a very real sadness. A wonderful piece of poetry, politically speaking it's getting more like puppet theatre every day. 🌹
Thanks so much Teddy for the read and comment my friend. Yes it is a comedy of the absurd and becomes even more so when the Christian Right wants to make things right by reverting to an eye for an eye when they have been preaching turn the other cheek for years.
A world like that is entirely possible. But who shall police and enforce once everyone has been mutilated? Much food for thought in this here poem dear friend 🕊️🙏
Thanks Cryptic yes unfortunately what was intended as a satire has become all to real. A comedy of the absurd it has become. Appreciate the read my friend
Most welcome dear Soren🙏🏻🕊️
Talking about guns - KP's very naughty. She and I play Russian Roulette. But she leaves only ONE chamber empty, and says to me 'You go first, dear!' lol
Thanks Orchi for the read and what a surprise it would be if the the first shot was a click and then it is her turn
Soren, this is a powerful piece…what stands out is the relentless escalation. Each line raises the stakes, pushing the idea further and further until that closing turn hits with real weight. It’s stark, unflinching, and leaves an impression. Well written, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thanks so much my friend for the read and comment. Your support is most important to me and highly valued. Yes the world itself seems to be escalating day by day and what is a satire today becomes a reality tomorrow
I would, with reservations, support a modified form of your first proposition, Soren. Anyone found in possession of a gun – amputation of trigger finger (separate debate re amputation with or without anesthetic). Exempton for farmers, I suspect , though secure storage with severe penalties if found to be inadequate.
I cannot endorse your remaining suggestions; however your regular supporters will doubtless cover my inadequacies.
Thanks Dave this write began as a satire my good friend but people see in it what they want and many must think me more barbaric than the old testament at this point
Regrets? I admit to an element of satire in my response, though it does signify my hostility towards the ownership of guns by the general population.
I think you will have to wear the conflicting responses (those that are conflicting and not generalised sweetness and light).
Further I note your first responder’s vote for capital punishment – a position I could not agree with.
I respect your feeling Dave but I owned guns, my father owned guns, my grandfather owned guns and none of us ever shot anyone, I am for early treatment of those that have violent tendencies and emotional problems. The method of violence can always be found where a disturbed man with a machete can wrack havoc in a nursery school killing as many as with a gun. Can we take knives away from everyone
Oh this has opened up something. Why would you want to own guns? The comparison with a machete is just bull shit rationalisation, Soren. With the availability of guns and a plentiful supply of homicidal maniacs (alright just lets classify them as mentally ill) you have a lethal combination. And yes there should be a limit on the supply of machetes also. Here, where I am a state government has legislated a ban on their sale.
Sorry don't agree mate we have put the blame on the tool not the user (abuser). Guns like bows can be used for hunting, my father used to bring home deer and ducks as well as pheasants. I shot on a target range for sport. No one hurt but the game. We spend billions on warfare and a dribble on mental health choosing to lock them up when they act out. Why not devote the billions to fixing the problem where it starts in the home
I see you’ve already moved on, Soren. However I’m staying here for a while longer🙃
An argument in absolutes might look good on paper, but takes no account of the complexities which constitute societal relations. Just because you plus ancestors used guns in what you consider to be a safe and rational way means nothing.
In society there exist not only the mentally ill but all the other, the maladjusted, the politically deranged and on and on.
Yes there are insufficient resources in mental health, but even if all the funds spent on the Iran incursion were devoted to mental health this would not perfectly prevent mass school shootings and other acts of violence aided by the availability of machines whose sole purpose is that of killing. Even the machetes you mentioned previously and now don’t refer to, have multiple uses other than human mutilation.
Here in Australia the debate is current after a mass shooting in Bondi, Sydney. Any changes to legislation are likely to be watered down by a lobby group consisting of wankers who insist on their right to bear arms.
I respect your view Dave. I have grandchildren I worry about and somehow don't know how I would react if they were violently affected but I am an anarchist at heart and hate state paternalism and their gradual taking over what is best for us. I don't trust government or any of their leaders that tell me they know what is best for me. Taking away arms is just what they want to keep power with no threat of insurrection and was one of the reasons that the right to bear arms was guaranteed in the US constitution. I feel I have a right to self protection without having to wait a half hour for the police to arrive should I be lucky enough to get off a phone call. Allowing others to have arms is a danger but so is allowing them to have a vehicle especially with a bottle of liquor. I think that if we devoted as much effort, time and money to proper parenting and early mental health the threat would be minimal. I might add that if we should decide to take arms away then it should be universal and equal for police, military, government officials, security. Let all stand on an equal basis not the powerful protected and the poor unprotected.
I think it is time to close this debate, Soren. I cannot see it going any further. We both have very fixed positons here and realistically I don't feel much change comming from either of us. So a truce?
Take care and see you around.
Where's RoboCop when you need him?
Good Write.
Thanks so much Kevin I appreciate your taking the time to read
Has shades of sharia law.
Coming to a town near you?
Thanks so much for the review and yes that was the intent in a satirical manner.
