Blake’s Apology

GenXer Sharon 🙏🍀

The grand opening wasn’t quite the same without Bessy’s presence. It was certainly busy all day; still something was a miss. Blake knows it was Bessy and the presence she brings; she’s always had a soft side to her; always found it in her to forgive. To see the good in people that they themselves may not see; to see the pain in others and would hope that he or she would find relief. Blake always loved just how authentic Bessy has always been. Somewhere deep inside he’s known that this in and of itself frightened him. Blake knows he was wrong for mocking Bessy’s faith. He’s in her driveway now; a huge step for him to take. Bessy hears the knock at the door and tells him to come in. Her camera allowed her to see that it was him. Blake was caught off guard at her flower bed and all the beauty around her home. Some how Bessy places makes him feel less alone. There’s a peace that’s here and his mind is finally clear. “Well Blake what brings you here?” Bessy is obviously still hurt and Blake’s not sure he should stay. “Bessy I just wanted to apologize for my actions and hurtful words I said the other day.” “I was out of line for openly mocking your Faith.” “I ask for your forgiveness and in my foolish mistake.” Bessy has prayed long and hard and knows what her Heavenly Father has asked her to do. “I accept your apology Blake and I forgive you.” Bessy shows him all the work she has done inside and outside her home. Blake is quite impressed how Bessy’s done this all alone. “I was never alone in my life as God has always been right there with me.” “Through my failures and through my victories.” “He’s my guiding light in a world that can really seem unkind; once you open His word though Blake; beauty and truth you’ll find.” “True there’s also great sadness, struggles, and some stories of deep pain; it teaches us courage, hope, and perseverance in strength and faith.” Blake now knows Bessy’s been his blessing from God all along; he leans in for a kiss that’s full of passion and so much more. So that’s my story for now and I thank you all for stopping by; off to my next story perhaps; I’ll see you all next time.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I know it’s not easy starting a business. This is just a story. In reality I’m aware it takes so much more than what I’ve written. However; I’m always aware that God loves us all and that there’s power in community. Coming together regardless of where we stand on the social ladder. I do believe that in some communities what and who you know counts too.

Sharon, this feels like those moments where someone finally chooses humility over pride…that step toward apology and forgiveness. Watching that unfold in Bessy’s world really lands. Well written, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
