Goosefire Fortitude

Tristan Robert Lange

Jesus alone is
Authority to me;
Never relics in robes.

He—Christ—authorizes me.
Uniformity is idolatry.
Save me?—I’d rather burn.

  • Comment from author about the poem: An acrostic Scorched Sunday poem. Part of my Scorched Strays collection. This piece confronts false authority, imposed uniformity, and the cost of refusing to submit—where allegiance is claimed, not assigned, and conviction is proven in fire. Beats me how manipulation and control are religious go tos and autopilot modes. 🕊️🙏🏻

Well crafted my friend although not a religious person I do believe in being spiritual and I see religion and conformity and unity and spirituality as individuality and there is no money in that. A good write my friend

Well said. This poem asserts that true authority belongs solely to Jesus Christ and rejects any form of religious idolization or uniformity that detracts from personal conviction. The words encompass themes of spiritual autonomy, the critique of institutional religion, and the embrace of personal beliefs, even in the face of potential suffering or persecution.

    Powerful work.

  • Paul Bell

Religion is different things to different people.
I look to the vatican, pure opulence, and I wonder.
Other religions have it too, palacial buildings dripping in gold.
Maybe religion got hijacked somewhere along the line, but to me, gold bars and poverty rarely ever meet.

How is the fortitude of a glugger?! lol.

  • Salvia.S

This reads like a declaration of spiritual self-rule, taking authority directly from Christ and refusing any version of salvation that demands conformity. Very well written dearest Tittu ❤️
    A fave 🌹
