No Choice
What love won’t give you
and you can’t borrow
— you have to steal
**
Each Blessing
The day I
crossed over
not counting
the years
Fixation
with age
left behind
in arrears
No longer
a number
my thankfulness
spreads
For every
new day
life betroths me
to wed
Ignoring
the time
with each blessing
bestowed
The gate slowly
opens
its pearls
— all aglow
**
Shadows Long
A prisoner
of what he didn’t know
walls grew higher still
His sentence
no parole in sight
appeal was less than nil
A convict’s tale
his cell is dark
enlightenment denied
To serve each day
in shadows long
— with light condemned to die
**

Reading this, Kurt, I’ve felt that shift you’re pointing to…letting go of time’s grip and just receiving what’s in front of you. It lands deep. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thanks again.
Kurt I particularly loved your first but it seems that one bleeds into the next and the story is told in three.
They're all separate, but I'm glad you think they work together.
Yes they seem to fit
Well written.......Your poems express complex emotions associated with love, gratitude, and the human experience, particularly focusing on the passage of time and the existential reflections that accompany it. The first poem, "No Choice," highlights the desperation and necessity of seeking love, while "Each Blessing" emphasizes gratitude and the beauty of living in the present. "Shadows Long" presents a more somber view, exploring the confinement of ignorance and the quest for enlightenment.
Great insight, thanks.
Enjoyed all. Like no choice.
Thanks again, Katie.
